Cudgen Rugby League Club and Salt Bar Beach Bar and Bistro are proud to present the Legends Lunch 2011 at Saltbar on Friday 17th June 2011. The inaugural event was announced last week with 3 Rugby League icons already confirmed and ready to rumble..
Join league legends Matt Rogers, Chris Choppy Close and Billy Moore for an ‘interactive chat on chairs’ while you enjoy a sumptuous two course meal and beverage package. Prized sports memorabilia will be up for auction along with shopping vouchers and weekends away, with all proceeds going to the Cudgen Leagues Club.
Mat Rogers has had a spectacular career spanning two decades and two professional codes, though he started and ended his career playing rugby league. Matt played state of origin for Queensland 5 times from 1999 to 2000 and wore the Australian Jersey proudly playing for the national test side 7 times before his switch to union in 2001. He returned to rugby league in 2007 with the newly-formed Gold Coast Titans club and retired in 2010.
Christopher "Choppy" Close is an Australian retired professional rugby league footballer of the 1970s, '80s and '90s. A robust three-quarter, he represented Australia internationally and Queensland in state of origin, this legend played club football in Queensland and New South Wales. Close has the distinction of being one of a handful of players to be named man-of-the-match in State of Origin more than once.
“Billy Moore” awarded the Australian Sports Award for his contribution to Australia's international standing in rugby league; this icon delivers a heroic edge to our football history. Join Billy as he shares with you some the greatest memories league has to offer. This player was a regular selection for the maroon jersey for three seasons while Moore was initially overlooked for Test duty against New Zealands, he won a place in Australia's World Cup squad. Dedication is the key for this legend, paying 212 games for North Sydney Bears. Billy Moore is best known for his heroics against the Blues playing 17 times for the Maroons between 1992 and 1997 and remains still to this day one of rugby leagues favourite sons.
