About Salt Bar

Salt Bar Beachbar and Bistro has been owned and run by the same family since the very beginning. We also built it!


Despite being based right here at Salt Village on the beautiful Tweed Coast, we’ve had a long twenty year history of running pubs the friendly way. We have owned and operated iconic pubs throughout Queensland and NSW including the popular Court House Hotel in Port Douglas and the beautiful and historic Cairns Court House Hotel.

We opened Salt Bar in January 2005 to serve the rising number of local and tourist families who had been coming to appreciate what a beautiful place we have on the Tweed to live and to holiday alike.

Here at Salt Bar Beachbar and Bistro we pride ourselves on being a family friendly, safe venue with friendly staff and customers.

The Salt Bar team is a small dedicated group of colleagues, many who have been with us since day one. We simply can’t think of a better place to come to work every day, nor better people to work with and to serve!

Where are you from?

Originally from the Central Coast then Pyrmont in Sydney before making my way up to the Tweed Coast.

What do you do at Salt Bar?

My main role is Duty Manager.

Why is Salt Bar the Friendly Bar?

The customer service that the staff and management deliver to the customers and also the relationships between the customers and the staff.

What’s your fav part of Salt Bar?

Having a drink with the locals.

What brought you to Salt Bar?

A lifestyle change, and the awesome working environment that salt bar provides.

What is your passion in life?

Golf and catching up with friends.

Where are you from?

I was born and raised in the Blue Mountains of NSW.

Why is Salt Bar the Friendly Bar?

Salt Bar has such a relaxed and laid-back vibe that makes it instantly friendly.

What’s your fav part of Salt Bar?

My favourite part of Saltbar would have to be working with such a great team and all the friendly locals.

What brought you to Salt Bar?

I needed a sea change after living in the trees for 30 years.

What is your passion in life?

When I am not at work I can be found hanging out with my gorgeous grandchildren and I am always listening to music…. Oh and
I love to shop!

Where are you from?

I have lived in the Tweed Valley since the age of 4, prior to this I lived in Glen Innes.

The people.

What’s your fav part of Salt Bar?

My favourite part of Salt Bar is our deck on a warm summer’s day enjoying a beverage.

What brought you to Salt Bar?

I have been working with Ray Group since 1997, when I was involved in a number of their Northern Queensland hotels. I have been involved with Salt Bar since it was built and was transferred down from head office a couple of years ago.

What is your passion in life?

Spending quality time with my family and friends.

Executive Chef

I was born in North Queensland, but Gold Coast raised.

What do you do at Salt Bar?

Executive chef, I’m responsible for the food and the food service.

Why is Salt Bar the Friendly Bar?

The locals, all the regulars that catch up and say ‘hi’.

What’s your fav part of Salt Bar?

It’s the type of place I’d bring my family to, its clean, safe, good beers, good honest food, and some good people around.

What brought you to Salt Bar?

I like the size of the place, the volume of guests, the fast-paced nature and constant challenges of my work.

What is your passion in life?

I love working and cooking. I’ve been a professional chef for nearly 20 years, and it still gets me going.
In my down time I’m a family man who likes fishing, movies, beers, wines, good food and afternoon naps.

Where are you from?

I’ve called Pottsville Beach home for a few years now. I was born in the UK and grew up in Western Australia.

What do you do at Salt Bar?

As Beverage Manager, my focus is on all things we enjoy drinking.

Our Staff. We have a great team that are always happy to help in our unique family friendly beach pub.

What’s your fav part of Salt Bar?

Where else can you sample such a good range of Craft Beers on tap at the beach.

What brought you to Salt Bar?

This venue combines many of my interests; the Beer, the Beach and being Family Friendly.
You are not out of place in your board shorts or tuxedo.

What is your passion in life?

I’ve got a few. If I’m not working, you could find me; surfing, spending time with my wife and 2 children, enjoying a craft beer with friends, playing my guitar or writing a short story

Where are you from?

From Paris but I also lived in Bora Bora for few years as well as other European cities.

What do you do at Salt Bar?

Functions and Events Sales Manager.

Why is Salt Bar the Friendly Bar?

First of all, the feel of the indoor/outdoor location as well as the mix of the family and individual customers. The smile and availability of the staff makes the Salt Bar experience memorable.

What’s your fav part of Salt Bar?

Enjoying a light lunch on the deck with a refreshing cocktail and the sound of the ocean.

What brought you to Salt Bar?

I’ve had the chance to live in amazing places and thought this would be the perfect next step. The challenge and magic of functions brought me to this position in particular in Salt Bar.

What is your passion in life?

Travelling the world, gastronomy, meeting people and being part of their journey for a while

Where are you from?

I grew up on the tweed coast, and lived in Salt since it’s very beginning.

A genuine relaxed and laid back atmosphere, with amazing staff.

My current role is Duty Manager.

Every day is different with new food, beer and the opportunity to meet a wide range of interesting people.

What brought you to Salt Bar?

I grew up in Salt, and started as just a casual glass boy on the weekend. I found that I loved the place and its people and eventually made my way to a management position.

What is your passion in life?

People and travel, I’ve found these two come hand in hand but nothing beats travelling the world and meeting new people.
